Legal Issues Involving Healthcare Facilities - 1704 Words

Introduction Healthcare facilities have being transformed from what they used to be 20 years ago. However, the difference supersedes the similarities in the areas of technology. The transformation was based on organizational structure and according to their administrative set up for the specific functions they perform. Such transformations includes the areas and operations of the nurses and nursing assistants, doctors, physical and Occupational therapy, case workers, etc. Unlike 20 years ago where manual documentation was the only way to preserve patients’ records, a more advanced technology was invented for information system, according to the specifications of the new ad prevailing†¦show more content†¦Currently, four year degree is required for registered nurses (RNs), two year diploma in nursing school for License Practical / Vocational nurses. (LPNs/LVNs). Nine months training for Certified Medicine Aides (CMAs), and six weeks of training for Geriatric Nursing Assistant (G NA) personnel. These changes are enforced by both the State and Federal Government to ensure professionalism in the field of the healthcare system. Moreover, physicians are spending more years in their areas of specialty in order to be professionally certified to practice. Additionally, the proliferation of newer technology in healthcare, and innovation in medical devices change almost annually, involving investments in medical technology by the healthcare organizations. Healthcare organizations and their investors spend huge amount of resources to invest in newer and better technologies with precision and accuracy in diagnosis for faster and easy treatment of diseases of their patients to avert costly lawsuits. (For example MRI technology and accuracy of diagnosis by the medical professionals). Also, treatment of patients has changed from twenty years ago for a more relief-based approach to the patient to a more comfort-based and broad/comprehensive approach to the patient and t he medical practice respectively.
