There was eight clients with moderate intellectual disabilities and two those were is living independently with supervision and minimal assistance I am going to focus this assignment on a woman in this unit named as Katie this name is fictional due to privacy and confidentiality (Chandler and Dahlquist 2014). Katie is a 58 year old woman who has been in this service since the age of 16 she has mild to moderate intellectual disability she also has personality disorder on my first day of placement on the unit Katie was screaming and shouting at staff and was very aggressive there was other residents present and I noticed they were scared and shook so I decided to ask them to come with me to a quite side of the unit till the nurse in charge tried to deescalated the situation and to ensure their safety I brought them to a quite visitors room and reassured them everything was fine and we will go back up for breakfast shortly (Bromley and Emerson 2015). I informed the care staff where we were just in case they needed to get to us quickly I felt a little useless but I done what I thought I was capable of doing at the time as I did not know Katie and the regular staff did I thought I will leave the staff to deal with it as they should know how to calm her down (Holden and Gitlesen 2010). Behavior management is crucial when dealing with people with behaviors that challenge this refers to a set of techniques that are used to manage behaviors that challenge (CudrMauroux, A. 2009).These techniques are usually based on the topography of the behavior for example what the behavior looks like or the physical manifestation of the behavior (Grey, McClean and Barnes-Holmes 2012). On this placement I learned how nurses and care staff intervene. I observed Katie as my weeks here progressed she would scream, cry, and bang on the window attempt to strike at staff and clients around her. I had a discussion with my preceptor about management and nursing interventions for Katie. I was made aware of the incident and prevention plan in place for her. This plan was to identify the specific behavior, setting goals, being aware of early warning signs, triggers, preventative strategies, environmental accommodation. In the event of an early warning sign for example when Katie is observed to begun to be disruptive and raise her voice the response is usually supportive that is speaking to her in a low tone, reassuring her. In the event of an escalation for example when she starts screaming the response is to redirect them to her bedroom room to lie down (Holden and Gitlesen 2013). Reassurance is offered if the behavior continues PRN medication such as diazepam will be given to relax and calm her down and to control the situation and to ensure Katie dose not harm herself or others . It is vital to record the time a client has an episode of behavior that challenge to see a pattern. On my placement we use ABC recording forms: A (antecedent): where did the incident occur. B (Behavior) describes the behavior we observed and C (consequence) how did staff and others react to the behavior (Ager and OMay 2011). We also used scatter plot recording forms to describe the physical aggression we observed for example was the person crying, kicking, punching, screaming, throwing objects please find copy of both forms attached (Hastings, Remington and Hopper 2012). When a person has an episode of behavior that challenges this may mean they are in pain or distress. As nurses we must get to know clients and understand each ones communication style via their facial expressions and hand gestures. Here on my placement the staff understood the clients very well this is crucial in all their daily needs and nursing interventions (Lowe et al. 2014). Causes of Challenging Behaviors individuals with intellectual disabilities have a very high chance of also haven difficulties with behaviors that challenge and this can lead to them feeling sad after their outburst the Effects of Challenging Behavior on an individual is Danger to their self and others. According to Arnautovska (2016) Assessment and recording clients who are aggressive and who suffer from multiple behavior problems require a careful assessment for management of the behavior and for the safety of the client, staff and other service users a person who bites, punches, and throws objects requires an assessment called an ABC chart us as nurses must record all to ensure good communication between all staff and that all staff are aware of the clients status when they arrive on duty (Bateman and Fonagy 2012). The ABC chart records what exactly was the clients behavior like what were they doing and what intervention was put in place to reduce the frequency of the behavior. Other forms of assessment must be carried out to see is the client in pain is this why they are haven behavioral issues people with intellectual disabilities may not be capable of describing discomfort and pain (Feeley and Jones 2011). A complete mental status examination is required to exclude depression, mania, psychosis, anxiety, or delirium. Nurses should do a complete review of all medications and assess routine functions such as frequency of bowel movement, oral intake, and ensure best outcomes and interventions are put in place to enhance and improve the quality of life for the client. Importance of libraries Essay The definition of a â€Å"good time† is different for everyone, but for me its reading a good book, fiction, non-fiction, biographies, history, religious books, comics anything . When I came to America in July 2013, I was fascinated to see a lot of different things and one of them were libraries, since I have a passion for reading books, I try to read one whenever I have free time, there were a lot of books ranging from the ones for small kids to those for adults. Sometimes I thought about becoming an author and sometimes a librarian. That’s why for my Senior Project, I will be exploring my passion of reading and libraries by showing the importance of libraries. I did not have any knowledge about the libraries in the US and I was very interested in doing it, I did research, surveys and volunteer work. My first objective was to learn the system of the library. In the 18th century, when the people first realized that there should be a way where people can gain knowledge, acquire information about anything they are interested or simply read because they like it that’s when the first library started operating in America. However, at that time many people donated a lot of money so that the libraries will be build and many donated all of their books so that other people will be able to gain knowledge from them. There was no need for a system back then as there was not much variety of books, but as time passed there were more and more discoveries, inventions and a lot of other knowledge which came, books increased and as the advancement went on and on, people realized there should be books for different age levels and that in order for the library to keep running without any sort of problems like stealing of books, proper organization of books and the supply of books. The need to check and arrange the large varieties of books was fulfilled by a librarian. There are many different systems of classification of books in a library which vary from library to library. Classification serves two main purposes in the library, to arrange books in a logical manner on the library shelves and to group like subjects together, They are classified either by numbering or on the basis of the author’s name alphabetically. The Dewey Decimal Classification System is the most widely used method for classifying books in the library. This system is a general knowledge organization tool  that is continuously revised to keep pace with knowledge. It is named after Melvil Dewey, an American Librarian who developed it in 1876. This system is a numerical scheme for the arrangement of subjects of nonfiction books, and it classifies books by dividing them into 10 main subject groups that are called categories. Each category is represented by figures beginning with 000 and going on to 999. In other words, it is a system of numbers used to mark and arrange mostly non-fiction books. As I started volunteering in Columbia Pike Library, there were different sections for children, teens and adults. Since I mostly work in the children’s section, this is the type of classification I learned about in children’s section. Since children are the ones who are in the process of learning how to read, their books are classified on a deeper level than that of teens and adults. They are classified on the basis of their leve l of reading like J, JE, JP, the â€Å"J† stands for juvenile which are mostly board books. The next are the â€Å"JP† (juvenile picture books) these books which are generally shelved on the basis of the author’s last name then â€Å"JE† (juvenile easy readers) these are for beginning readers, JP (juvenile fiction) these books harry potter, the non-fiction books are the juvenile non-fiction and juvenile biographies. The same goes for CDs and DVDs for children as well, they are also arranged as J/CD/DVD. The adult and teens section is comparatively less categorized and simply classified into fiction and non-fiction. The technological and management skills required for running a library are getting higher that’s why it has become necessary to acquire a master’s degree in Library science. From Ferguson’s careers in focus:- â€Å"Most acquisition librarian positions require a master’s degree in library science (M.L.S) a master’s degree in information service or a master’s degree in science of information.† Ac quisition librarians are responsible for building and maintaining a library’s collection of books and periodicals (e-publications) so they need a master’s degree in science information . I did a survey on the type of books preferred by teens the most, the options were fiction, nonfiction, history and biography. There were 0% votes for both history and biography non fiction had 33.33% vote and fictional books had 66.67% vote. Fiction got the majority votes. My second objective was to research about developing recommendation of books based on different age groups, The reason I did this objective was to develop a sense of recommendation or to be able to give an  opinion to people about any kind of book. My consultant asked me to make lists of books by searching for them in amazon because they have the latest books and they also have a better search engine then the library’s catalog. By doing this objective I learned how to research about books in order to suggest them to someone or to update the library. My consultant asked me to make lists of books for aged 2-3 or any other group by searching from the catalog or sometimes making a list of books for children th at were published after 2009 from amazon, and then give it to her so that it can be used to update the library. The best website to find the ideal book for any age group is amazon, this I learned from experience, after searching the books for hours and not being able to find the desired ones, the easiest method is to use the â€Å"advanced search† by putting in the desired requirements, I was able to easily find the books and then searched for them in the library’s catalog to check whether they were there or not. My consultant gave me several projects about making bookmark bibliographies one of them was about creating bookmark bibliographies for kids and teens about other countries and religions since books give children an idea about the other parts of the world, these books were mostly about their culture, food, religion and daily activities. â€Å"If we wish to create a lasting peace we must begin with the children.†-Mohandas Gandhi I personally liked this project a lot, because kids and teens should explore other parts and regions of the world by reading books like pic ture books, religion, food and culture, because I feel that the media and the internet seem to create a very negative influence on people all around the world, about their neighbouring countries and about all the other countries around the world, children should read and know about other cultures of the world so that their would be more peace in the future. It is better to have an idea about something before believing anything about it which the TV shows. My third objective was reviewing practicality of normal libraries and virtual libraries. Virtual libraries or digital libraries are a great source of information and learning, while many predicted that as digital libraries will begin, that will be the end of the normal libraries and that all the shelves of the public libraries will be sweaped clean, but it did not. While many people who want to save their time and effort prefer digital libraries, there are many people including myself who prefer reading the old fashioned  way. In my survey of virtual libraries vs. normal libraries, 13 people responded to the survey, out of which 8 prefered virtual libraries and 5 preferred normal libraries, there was a 38.46% vote for normal libraries and 61.54% vote for virtual libraries. The results surprised me because I thought people will choose normal libraries, because even though a virtual library sounds good, it is difficult to access virtual library and some require membership too. I researched about the advantages and disadvantages of normal and virtual libraries. My second survey was to find out the biggest advantage and disadvantage of virtual libraries. The advantages included Immediate access to resources, Information updated immediately, No physical boundaries, Support different learning styles, Accessible for the disabled.Information retrieval,Teaching tool for information literacy, Storage of information, Networking capabilities (provides links to other virtual libraries) and Directs students to relevant resources. Out of 12 people, 7 chose Immediate access to information making it 58.33%, 3 people chose information updated immediately which made it 25%, one person chose support different learning styles and one person chose directs students to releva nt sources making each of them 8%. These results were very predictable because no doubt the biggest advantage is immediate access to information. The disadvantages included Restricted by copyright law, the requirement for internet access and that skilled professionals are required to organize,maintain and help students. Out of 12 people 5 chose requires internet access, 4 chose that skilled professionals are required for help and 3 chose restricted by copyright. So in the disadvantages the need for internet access seemed to cause the most problems. So my overall conclusion from my surveys is that even though normal libraries will not end, there are many who prefer digital libraries over normal ones, the biggest advantage is the immediate access to resources as there is no need to go to the library and if it is checked out, there is no need to wait for it the because the virtual libraries gets rid of that long process and the biggest disadvantage is the requirement for internet access, it is no doubt that internet has made the life of people unimaginably easy but not everyone can afford this luxury. My fourth objective was to research about the history of the libraries in the US. It is due to the founding fathers of America like Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson that the system of  library began the US. The first public library came in the 18th century after some time, lots of people contributed millions of dollars so that education could be given to all for free. In 1731, Benjamin Franklin and his friends operated library company of Philidelphia. Andrew Carnegie gave millions to bring books and information to the people. From Gail Sakura’s Library of Congress â€Å"Thomas Jefferson had retired from the presidency and was living at Monticello, his home in Virginia. He offered to sell his personal book collection to the library of congress as a quick way to quickly replace the library’s losses.† The library of congress was set on fire on August 24, 1814. Some assume that the British had done it. Due to the efforts of our leaders, today the library of congress is the world largest library. It contains 100 million items, including 29 million books and pamplets, 53 million manuscripts and 4 million maps and atlases which are shelved in three buildings in Washington DC. My fifth objective was to volunteer at Columbia Pike Library. I started doing it in October and I will continue to do it after Senior Project .I worked in the children’s section where putting books back on the shelves, finding books for them and displaying them is the most important thing to do I also painted the walls of the library once and I decorated it by paper cutouts of different animals for the children. Sometimes on the weekends there is a story time in which teachers and students or parents and children come to the library, at that event I come earlier then usual and along with the other voluntee rs arrange the cookies and tables for the children and after they are done with it. I help to clean up the mess. My biggest obstacle was finding a job or volunteer work at a library, because since I just came in july and had never done volunteer work before, I was nervous and furustrated. I struggled hard to find a job, sometimes by searching on google and sometimes by going there like I went to Aurora Hills Library since it was close to my house but there was no volunteer work being offered at that time. I was not able to work at the school library, because they had another girl working there whose senior project was also on libraries. I thought about changing my Senior project but finally in October with the help of a friend of mine I was able to contact Barabara Dean the incharge of the Arlington Public Libraries and she asked me to contact Ms.Desiree Fairooz who was the incharge of Columbia Pike Library, she even gave me her e-mail address, and through that I was able to  finally start volunteering. My new skills are that I learned about the history of Library system in the US, I got to k now about virtual libraries and the qualifications required to become a librarian. I learned to make bookmark bibliographies and I learned how to do surveys, which I am sure I will need to do later in college and then in my career. I was thinking about printing out copies and then giving them to people but then my teacher told me about an online survey that was very useful, I just sent the link to my friends and I was able to get the results I needed, I am currently working on learning to make pamplets for the library. This project will help me by giving me volunteer hours which will help me get accepted in my desired college, because they require volunteer hours, The new skills I learned like making surveys, pamphlets and bookmark bibliographies will help me in college and later on in my life too, also the way the project is organized in a step wise manner with its deadlines, has shown me that putting everything till the last minute is not the solution, we should make achieve our targets by setting up a timetable and follow it. My fellow Americans, the upcoming national elections present a very important choice. We can forge a â€Å"true† representative democracy for the first time in history, and be led by our directly elected leaders. Or we can continue to live in an aristocratic republic run by over-educated elitists who are not beholden to the will of the people, but only to themselves. As you all know, three years ago I won the popular vote for President, but was denied the office because of a â€Å"corrupt bargain† between the dishonorable Henry Clay and President Adams. The people’s choice was disregarded by the elite in power. As a result, I immediately resigned from the Senate and returned to Tennessee, where the legislature immediately nominated me for President again. I have spent the last three years preparing to right this terrible wrong and take back the people’s power to choose their own leaders. My opponent Mr. Adams dismisses me as a â€Å"military chieftain. † I have fought two wars for this country, and I am proud of it. I think one of the most important qualifications a President should have is a military background. We were invaded by the British only 15 years ago. That enemy is still in the Canadas agitating Indians to attack us, and waiting for another chance to invade. We have foreign enemies at our every border. Don’t forget the Spanish forces just to the south in Florida, and Mexico to the west, and Indians constantly raiding settlements all along the frontiers. These foreign threats are many and dire, and we need a President who has the experience to defend our nation against them. There are threats to our nation from within as well. The Second National Bank is a threat to our economic well-being. President Adams and Vice-president Clay both support the bank claiming that it provides stability. I say it does great harm to the average American. It is a financial monopoly controlled by a few wealthy easterners. It controls the credit for the entire country, prints paper money of dubious worth, and it is just plain unconstitutional. Out west thousands of ordinary shop keepers, millers, farmers and other business owners cannot get the currency and the loans they need to run their concerns. How do you develop and grow the economy of a new state without currency, or worse yet, with paper currency of dubious worth? I say let us do away with all paper money, I do not trust it. Gold and Silver coin have intrinsic and eternal value, paper does not. We should also rely on our local and state banks, run by the people who live in and understand our communities, to control the currency needed for commerce, not some faceless, monopolistic national bank. Another threat from within are the abolitionists. They care about one issue only, and would tear the nation apart to get their way. Slavery is necessary to the economy of the south. If we outlaw it, we will make criminals of thousands of slave owners overnight, and collapse all of the southern states’ economies. How will southern families feed and clothe themselves without their labor force? I say let the people and their states decide this issue for themselves. Many northern states have already outlawed slavery, and one day the southern states may follow. You cannot force a cultural change like this on people; you must let them come to it in their own way and time. That is the nature of democracy. President Adams is afraid of internal threats as well. His biggest fear is YOU! The people of this nation, the ordinary citizens of the United States are the gravest threat he faces. Our President doesn’t trust us. To him, we are the unwashed, ignorant masses who, given the chance, would run the country into the ground. The president has stated many times that he believes his precious republic will soon â€Å"degenerate into democracy; that government of the people will become government by the people. † I say it’s about time. I say â€Å"we the people† built this nation. We have marched across the continent, scratching out a living, and burying our children along the way to do it. I say â€Å"we the people† understand better than anyone what it takes to make this nation grow and prosper. I trust the common people of this nation, because I am one of the common people. I am not yet another wealthy land owner from Virginia, nor am I an aristocratic lawyer from Massachusetts. I am a just an old Indian fighter from Tennessee. I believe â€Å"we the people† who have sacrificed the most for this great nation have earned the right to govern it. But I need your help to make this happen. Already, the new states are entering the union with few restrictions on the vote. This has caused many the old states to change their ways as well. Eighteen of our states now choose their electors by popular vote, while only six still allow the legislature to choose their representatives for them. I urge you all to go to the polls on Election Day. With this election we can finally take back power from the old aristocracy. We can establish the legitimacy of majority rule based upon direct voting for candidates by the electorate, and guarantee preservation of the Union, with states’ rights as the fundamental basis of American liberty. This is the dawn of a new day for democracy and modern American politics. Please vote on Election Day. Thank you.

Emily Murphy (March 14, 1868–Oct. 27, 1933) was a strong advocate for Canadian women and children who led four other women, collectively called the Famous Five, in the Persons Case, which established the status of women as persons under the British North America (BNA) Act. Early Life Emily Murphy was born on March 14, 1868, in Cookstown, Ontario, Canada. Her parents, Isaac and Emily Ferguson, and her grandparents were well-to-do and highly educated. Two relatives had been Supreme Court justices, while her grandfather Ogle R. Gowan was a politician and newspaper owner. She was brought up on equal footing with her brothers, and, at a time when girls were often uneducated, Emily was sent to the prestigious Bishop Strachan School in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. While she was at school in Toronto, Emily met and married Arthur Murphy, a theological student who became an Anglican minister. The couple moved to Manitoba, and in 1907 they relocated to Edmonton, Alberta. The Murphys had four daughters—Madeleine, Evelyn, Doris, and Kathleen. Doris died in childhood, and some accounts say Madeline died at an early age as well. Early Career Murphy wrote four popular books of patriotic travel sketches under the pen name Janey Canuck between 1901 and 1914 and was the first woman appointed to the Edmonton Hospital Board in 1910. She was active in pressuring the Alberta government to pass the Dower Act, a 1917 law that prevents a married person  from selling the home without the consent of the spouse. She was a member of the Equal Franchise League and worked with activist Nellie McClung on winning voting rights for women. First Woman Magistrate In 1916, when she was prevented from attending a trial of prostitutes because it was deemed unsuitable for mixed company, Murphy protested to the attorney general and demanded that a special police court be set up to try women and that a female magistrate be appointed to preside over the court. The attorney general agreed and appointed Murphy as the police magistrate for the court in Edmonton, Alberta. On her first day in court, Murphys appointment was challenged by a lawyer because women were not considered persons under the BNA Act. The objection was overruled frequently and in 1917, the Alberta Supreme Court ruled that women were persons in Alberta. Murphy allowed her name to be put forward as a candidate for the Senate but was turned down by Prime Minister Robert Borden because the BNA Act still did not recognize women for consideration as senators. The Persons Case From 1917 to 1929, Murphy spearheaded the campaign to have a woman appointed to the Senate. She led the Famous Five in the Persons Case, which eventually established that women were persons under the BNA Act and so were qualified to be members of the Canadian Senate. Murphy became president of the new Federation of Womens Institutes in 1919. Murphy was active in many reform activities in the interests of women and children, including womens property rights under the Dower Act and the vote for women. She also worked to promote changes to the laws on drugs and narcotics. Controversial Causes Murphys varied causes led to her becoming a controversial figure. In 1922, she wrote The Black Candle about drug trafficking in Canada, advocating for laws against the use of drugs and narcotics. Her writing reflected the belief, typical of the times, that poverty, prostitution, alcohol, and drug abuse were caused by immigrants to western Canada. Like many others in Canadian womens suffrage and temperance groups of the time, she strongly supported the eugenics movement in Western Canada. Along with suffragette McClung and womens rights activist Irene Parlby, she lectured and campaigned for the involuntary sterilization of mentally deficient individuals. In 1928, the Alberta Legislative Assembly made the province the first to approve sterilization under the Alberta Sexual Sterilization Act. That law was not repealed until 1972, after nearly 3,000 individuals were sterilized under its authority. In 1933, British Columbia became the only other province to approve involuntary sterilization with a similar law that wasnt repealed until 1973. While Murphy did not become a member of the Canadian Senate, her work raising awareness of womens causes and changing laws to empower women was critical to the 1930 appointment of Cairine Wilson, the first woman to serve in the legislative body. Death Emily Murphy died of diabetes on Oct. 27, 1933, in Edmonton, Alberta. Legacy Though she and the rest of the Famous Five have been hailed for their support of property and voting rights for women, Murphys reputation suffered from her support for eugenics, her criticism of immigration, and her expressed concern that other races might take over white society. She warned that the upper crust with its delicious plums and dash of cream is likely to become at any time a mere toothsome morsel for the hungry, the abnormal, the criminals and the posterity of insane paupers.† Despite the controversies, there are statues dedicated to Murphy and other members of the Famous Five on  Parliament Hill in Ottawa and in the Olympic Plaza in Calgary. The theatre is of Victorian style with ornate decorations and red carpets and seating, this instantly transport me to the era in which the play is set in the 19th century. The stage is open for the audience to see before the play starts and is set out as the stage in a small theatre, a basket for props, two chairs, a rack of costumes and buckets catching water from a leaky roof. The most important part of the set though was the gauze at the back of the stage separating a separate scene behind and revealing it hen needed using lighting. This combination of props and structure conveys the location strongly to the audience without being so defined that it is not possible to change the scene. While we waited there was no background music which gave a slightly eerie edge to the wait. The play started in the theatre depicted on the stage and almost immediately the humour as Mr Kipps’s is reading his memoirs and you don’t think it is going to be horror at all and I think this could be done to lulled the audience into a false sense of security which made shocks later in the play a lot more effective. The most important element of the play I feel was the lighting the spotlights was used to great effect and to draw attention to their facial expressions. Also it allowed the gauze to be rendered opaque or see through at the click of a switch which enabled the stage hands to change set whilst the play continued allowing for swift changes as if actually by magic the gauze also made what was going on behind it look blurry and you couldn’t really see what was going on. Another effective use of lighting was the torch when Kipps is searching the house for the ghost and when he sits down shines the beam above and behind him to reveal the woman in black standing behind him, the torch is clearly specially narrow beamed so that only a small area is visible and the audience feels the tension as they realise that the woman in black is lurking in the shadows. Again in the church scene gauze added to the impression of the dinginess that without it the scene wouldn’t have had. One use of lighting that I felt really was crucial to the scene was when Kipps is walking up the staircase towards the nursery with the rocking chair, the entire image is dark which turned an innocent act like walking up a staircase into a way of creating more tension in the audience, as well as Kipps the woman in black is seen on the stairs which allows here black clothes to be darkened even more and only her white face is visible to the audience. Lighting was important but sound was just as important. The reason the sound worked was mainly due to the fact that it was only ever used in context and were it definitely added to the play. The background sound really drew the audience into the scene from the harsh rattling of the pony and trap to the warm conversation in the bar. It was especially effective for indicating the presence of objects hidden in swirling mist or supernatural noises. This was particularly the case in the scene were the young Kipps is lost in the sea mists and he hears a pony and trap coming towards him, however neither he or the audience can see it and the fear that it will pass right by him builds the tension so that when the sound of a crash is heard the audience is horrified rather than slightly scared. Obviously the most important use of sound was the scream of the woman in black, at the moments of highest tension in the play the bloodcurdling cry shattered the atmosphere a. The real thing that made these screams so perfect were the pauses of absolute silence before and after in which one could have cut the atmosphere with a knife and the audience was so drawn into the play it was so quite you that you would of heard a pin drop. Costume was simple with slight changes. The rack to one side of the stage was hung with a coat a hat and a scarf. One use of costume was when the real Mr Kipps was playing the employer of Mr Kipps (actor) simply by using subtle mannerisms and wearing him glasses on the tip of his nose like a man who looks down even on those taller than himself. The scarf and coat were not worn prior to journeys to and from the house this gave itself the idea of the bleak cold isolated marshes with the sea mists. The character costumes were each well thought out, the actor was dressed in trousers braces and smart jacket. Mr Kipps dressed in a grey worn suit which enhances his lack of self-confidence. However the most impressive costume by far is that of the woman in black. Dressed entirely in a black Victorian high necked dress, a bonnet covered the head and face except from front so you can see her scary white complexion with sunken eye sockets and weathered skin. A truly terrifying character but with very simple but effective clothes. The black clothing allowed her to move around the stage and appear without being noticed. The best acting performance I felt was that of the real Mr Kipps. The way he started the play on the note of humour with a dull tone of voice and then as if by magic switches band become a man with no fear as the solicitor’s representative in the village. Also not only his ability to play the multiple roles that were required of his character was impressive he very clearly changed his characters abilities as the play progressed from the boring dull acting as his own assistant to the amazing change to his. Throughout each character he played was believable no matter how strange they were. The younger actor playing Actor was also impressive and made a wonderful impression as the young Arthur Kipps and played out the dramatic scenes fantastically. The fear that the audience feels throughout is due to the tension being created on stage. Not once did the play become exaggerated, over-the-top or false although he played the articulate confident actor very well and his character was as stereotypical as it could have been without seeming ridiculous. His cocked eyebrow and powerful stance hinted at a feeling of slight superiority. One of the most effective moments in the play personally was when the woman in black is seen rocking in her chair behind the gauze, manic music playing in the background, her hair messy and we could see a vision or a woman destroyed by grief her suddenly mid rock runs off the stage. This was not so much a scary moment more of a disturbing one showing him life of someone clearly very distraught. I thought was the way in which she rocked violently even though her gaze never moved and showed she had complete focus. The fact it was so realistic production was far more frightening than any horror film. Packed with twists, turns and unexpected surprises, this production leaves the audience with goose bumps and even, in some cases, shaking with fear. Hanging on the fantastic performances of the two-man cast, this is an incredibly well produced and effectively spooky play and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
